The best book on EOR I've read

This book brings the most recent developments in the field to the reader an melds this with the past history and academic research in the field. It contains an extremely large amount of useful and practical information, presented in an easy to read and understand format. The book covers all aspects of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and contains a wealth of tables, charts and actual field experience. The author's insight into many controversial issues such as scaling and adsorption and Alkaline Surfactant Polymer Flooding versus Surfactant Polymer Flooding are refreshing and sharp. I would recommend this book to anyone involved in EOR from the student level to the seasoned veteran.

This was one of several books required for a class in religion, a subject I normally shy away from. However, I came to like not only studying religion, but how this book makes the connection on different levels about current religious beliefs and practices. There are commonalities between old and new(er) religious beliefs and rituals. The book was an eye-opener.

Religion in traditional societies

This is a good summary of religion in traditional societies. The authors use examples around the world of various religious practices that occur in traditional societies such as festivals, rites of passages well as religious practioners. They also discuss the use of plants an animals as well as religious topics such as sickness and healing and death and the afterlife. Eventhough the book is small it does asume some knowledge about Anthropology so the text can be fairly cumbersome. In general it is a good resource for those who wish a general overview of traditional religious practices and concepts around the world.

Excellent book, more of an atlas than a text

I'm surprised there aren't more OCT texts out there. I've had this book for quite some time now. It is a great resource with good pictures of fundus images of many disease states and correlates them with FA and OCT images. Often there are pre and post treatment pictures.

It may be outdated soon with some of the newer OCT technologies coming out, but I think the basics and OCT findings presented will not be significantly different.

The focus of the book is definitely on retinal disease although there is a chapter on OCT in management of glaucoma. For retinal disease, it is pretty comprehensive, usually showing multiple examples of any given disease.

I would highly recommend this book for those with an interest in OCT.
My ownly gripe with the book is that I felt that the authors should have developed a methodology for the systematic evaluation of an OCT...similar to how medical students are taught to read a chest x-ray. Oh well.

Good reference for OCT

This book is a more than adequate reference to OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) and its' applications to ocular diseases. The principles of OCT is a very good reference for understanding how the technology works. The OCT findings correlated with the fundus pictures and angiogram provide an excellent view of the pathology of the cases reviewed. A good reference to have for glaucoma and retinal specialist.

This 400 page book edited by Amy Appleby includes the best of every book I've ever studied from. It contains over 125 great masterpieces. There are 24 Renaissance and Baroque (e.g. Purcell, Scarlatti, Bach and Handel), 21 classical (e.g. Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart) , 28 Romantic (e.g. Chopin, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky), 16 Impressionist and Modern Composers (e.g. Debussy, Dvorak, and Rimsky-Korsakov), 10 Light Classics (e.g.Gounod, Strauss and Waldteufel), 10 opera themes (e.g. Bizet's 'Carmen,' Mozart's 'Marriage of Figaro' and Sullivan's 'H.M.S. Pinafore'), 10 scenes from the ballet (e.g. Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and the Nutcracker) and 7 duets by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Diabelli, Mendelssohn, Schubert and Tchaikovsky. The book is beautiful bound with a rugged plastic binding that stays open on the piano.The pages are bright with legible notes. I would recommend this book for the serious student who is playing four years or more. This would make an excellent holiday or special occasion gift for piano enthusiasts. It is an excellent value. Nice Collection - Recommended

Good Collection to have in your library. The piano pieces are the originals with fingerings, not simplified arrangements. The orchestral transcriptions are okay, although I have seen better from Schirmer, e.g. "Dance of the Reed Flutes". Still, they are not over-simplified arrangements, as I found to be the case in "The Definitive Classical Collection", which I returned. Over all a good addition to your musical library, especially when put together with Amy Appleby's "Piano Classics". Difficulty level is advanced-intermediate to advanced.

My new best piano book, a must have!

I was shocked when this book arrived, it's so thick packed with 400 pages, thank goodness for the plastic coil binding. This book includes a huge selection of songs, many of the well-known pieces that I already had in several other books, but also a wide variety of new songs that I haven't heard/played before. The level is intermediate to advanced-intermediate. I'm picking up piano again after a very LONG hiatus and I'm absolutely thrilled to have found this gem. If I had to give up all of my books and keep just one, THIS WOULD BE IT! And I would still have enough to play for a very long time. I highly recommend this book.

John Armour is Hogan Lovells Professor of Law and Finance at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute. He currently serves as a member of the European Commission's Informal Company Law Expert Group.


Dan Awrey is an Associate Professor of Law and Finance and Academic Director of the MSc in Law and Finance programme at the University of Oxford. His teaching and research interests reside in the area of financial regulation and, more specifically, the regulation of banks, investment funds, derivatives markets, and financial market infrastructure.


Paul Davies is a Senior Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College, Oxford, UK. He was Allen & Overy Profesor of Corporate Law, University of Oxford, from 2009-2014; Cassel Professor of Commercial Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, 1998-2009; and, before that, Professor of the Law of the Enterprise, University of Oxford.He is a Fellow of the British Academy, an honorary Queen's Counsel and an honorary Bencher of Gray's Inn.


Luca Enriques is the Allen & Overy Professor of Corporate Law at the University of Oxford. His scholarship explores corporate law, corporate governance, securities regulation, and financial regulation. Among his many publications are numerous articles in major European and US reviews and journals, as well as several books. Enriques has held visiting appointments at the University of Cambridge, the Interdisciplinary Center Hertzliya, Harvard Law School, and the Instituto de Impresa (Madrid). He previously taught at LUISS University (Rome) and the University of Bologna and was a Commissioner at the Italian S.E.C. (Consob) between 2007 and 2012.

Jeffrey N. Gordon is the Richard Paul Richman Professor of Law at Columbia Law School and co-director of the Richman Center for Business, Law and Public Policy and the Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership. He is also a visiting professor at Oxford University and a Fellow of the European Corporate Governance Institute. He has written extensively on corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions over his academic career but after events in fall 2008 began teaching and writing on financial regulation. Before becoming a law professor, he worked at the US Treasury and a private law firm in New York City.


Colin Mayer is the Peter Moores Professor of Management Studies at the Said Business School at the University of Oxford. He is a Professorial Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford, and an Honorary Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford and St Anne's College, Oxford. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, the European Corporate Governance Institute, and the Royal Society of Arts. He is a member of the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and the International Advisory Board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. Colin Mayer was the first professor at the Said Business School in 1994, the Peter Moores Dean of the Business School between 2006 and 2011, and the first Director of the Oxford Financial Research Centre between 1998 and 2005. He was the chairman of Oxera Ltd. between 1986 and 2010 and a member of the UK Government Natural Capital Committee between 2012 and 2015. He is a director of Aurora Energy Research Ltd.

Jennifer Payne is Professor of Corporate Finance Law at the University of Oxford where she teaches courses on company law, corporate finance law, corporate insolvency law, and principles of financial regulation. She has held visiting positions at leading international institutions including the University of Auckland, NUS University of Singapore, the University of Melbourne, and the University of British Columbia. She has written widely in the field of corporate law in leading journals and edited collections, and is the author of several books, including The Oxford Handbook of Financial Regulation (OUP 2015, with Niamh Moloney and Eilis Ferran).

About the Author
Gloria Konig Fiero was born and raised in New York City. She earned her Masters degree in Art History at the University of California, Berkeley, and her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Humanities at the Florida State University. Good book.

This one book lasted two semesters, This is a great reference to use with a Western Civilization class, this text tells what is going on socially and artistically while the Western Civ courses tell what is going on politically and militarily. Really good idea to take the 2 classes back to back.
