I am an aspiring interior designer. I found this to be an excellent reference guide and tool for learning about the role of color in interior design and how to successfully build a coherent palette. Easy to read. Contains excellent examples.

Scott Cawthon is the author of the bestselling video game series Five Nights at Freddy’s, and while he is a game designer by trade, he is first and foremost a storyteller at heart. He is a graduate of The Art Institute of Houston and lives in Texas with his wife and four sons.

Kira Breed-Wrisley has been writing stories since she could first pick up a pen and has no intention of stopping. Decent read, not what I expected

Too many people are reviewing this book as if it were written as an extension of the game. I'm a fan of the franchise, but I'm here to do an objective review of JUST the book itself, not how it plays into the series.

Short summary: It's okay. It's worth the $3 for a quick read.

This book has glimmers of some really talented writing but it's totally bogged down by a lack of sound editing. Thankfully I can just skip over typos, grammatical issues, and things like tense changes or confused pronouns without it drawing me too far out of the story but if this book weren't sailing self-published on an already established franchise those would be huge issues. Hopefully they fix it for the paperback issue.

I'm a fan of horror/thriller books. I re-read Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House after finishing this book and it's like night and day in terms of suspense and ambiance. This book is less of a thriller/scary book and more a book about a group of teenagers coming of age. I know that sounds ridiculous since there's an animatronic on the cover, but the focus isn't on the robots - it's on the teens. The game focuses on dark corners and jumpscares. The book focuses on the teens going to diners to hang out, a scholarship dedication and once in a while popping into a haunted restaurant. (Almost like an afterthought.) It's a little scooby-dooish, but since it's probably intended for tweens - that's okay. In fact, I think if you approach this as a teen coming of age story that just happens to have some animatronics in it, it'd be a more satisfying read.

I'm being serious here. I can tell you more about the type of man the main character's dad was than I can about the motivation of the killer robots. There's a good amount of pages dedicated to the memorial and scholarship dedication of one of the murdered kids - in fact, you find out some details about the little girl who won the scholarship of all things - but the climax has all of two seconds of, "Oh wait, the robots' TRUE motivation was this." It is literally one tantalizing line and then the lights come back on and the ride is over. What's worse, this motivation is explained by one of the characters verbally rather than shown in the story itself because otherwise you wouldn't really pick it up.

There was also an issue with pacing. There's very little suspense in the parts that are meant to be spooky, and when the action does happen it ramps from 0 to 11 rather than properly taking its time. It doesn't get very violent, at least, which again goes toward it being a good book for tweens.

So in all I'd say this is a decent read if you're looking for a story about a gang of mystery solving teens that have a little kid with them rather than a great dane. It's the right speed for a tween or young teenager, probably. Not too scary, not too violent, and they probably aren't going to care when a verb isn't conjugated properly. Probably not going to be a book to recommend to your book club, though.

An amazing book to help discover the lore inside. I flew through it and was at the edge of my seat. Also it was a great stress relief from the stress of college finals! Because everyone knows killer robots are the best to combat stress.

It is a rather fun book. It answers many questions left by the games and also turns one thing from the games on its head. The characters were mildly flat but well developed and it was very well written. Can get a tad gruesome at points though.

For hundreds of years before this, however, Buddhist monks, using magical incantations and spells, have been covering people's bodies with indelible ink in the belief that the markings will bring luck, wealth, and blessings. People remain convinced that tattoos provide protection against evil spirits and can render the bearer invulnerable, even to stab wounds and bullets. Known in Thailand as Sak Yant, these ancient tattoos are today experiencing a revival in popularity, both in their countries of origin and beyond. Fashion or social phenomenon, the demand for magical tattoos keeps rising. Hollywood stars, Singaporean businessmen, people from all walks of life flock to Thai Sak Yant Masters to have these powerful designs inked onto their bodies. At the same time, these tattooists are regularly invited to practice their art abroad, thus increasing the popularity of Sak Yant worldwide. Why do these sacred tattoos provoke such passion?  Who are these men who perform Sak Yant, and who are those who get tattooed? Do these tattoos really have magical powers? These questions raise the issue of the influence not only of tattoos but also of amulets, cultural and religious beliefs and rituals, on the mind and health of the individual. Although, formerly regarded as irrational, today's scientific studies show how these beliefs influence a person's life and how tattoos and other symbols can work as placebos. Drawing on a wide range of contributions and from research fields as diverse as anthropology, religion, history, medicine and psychology, Thai Magic Tattoos - The Art and
Influence of Sak Yant   attempts to provide some understanding of the mechanisms by which a tattoo may actually change the life of the bearer. 
The book is based on extensive fieldwork over a period of three years in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. Using their own photographs, field notes and in-depth interviews of Masters and Sak Yant believers, the authors provide a unique insight into the world of sacred tattoos and in doing so illustrate one of the last living examples of authentic traditional tattooing.

'Thailand's Magic Tattoos' is an informative and entertaining book composed by husband and wife team Rene and Isabel Drouyer.
Isabel is a noted scholar on the history and iconography of SE ASia. Husband Rene is a professional illustrator and photographer.
Together they have produced a comprehensive book -- beautifully illustrated and a pleasure to read.
It is equally suitable for detailed study, bedtime browsing or coffee table decoration . Quite a rare combination !
Strongly recommended as the finest book available in the market on the subject of Thai Magic Tattoos .

I was just going to skim though this book looking at the photos, which I love to do in libraries, but I ended up buying and reading it. This book changed the way I saw tattooed people. I learn so much about this practice, I did not imagine that tattoos may tell a bit of a story about ourselves.

Once my preferred textbook

When I was choosing the teaching material for a private English course in China at the end of 2006, I came across this Face2Face Elementary. It appeared as simply yet effectively organized textbook, and this first impression was later confirmed by my classroom experience. I would love to keep on using this textbook in my later courses but it is quite hard to get (in time and in reasonable quantities) here in Taiwan, for which reason I cannot compare it to the newest stuff on the textbook market either.
Note: The accompanying CD-ROM is a strong point of this set. It won the prestigious English-speaking Union President's Award for Innovation in Technology back in 2005.
