A good beginning for Welsh conversation

I own both the Teach Yourself Welsh and Teach Yourself Welsh Conversation courses. I struggled with the conversations on the CDs with the Welsh course; but the Welsh Conversation course is much easier to follow, takes smaller steps in teaching the Welsh language. In case you may not know it, Welsh is a difficult language to learn. So it helps that the steps are small and more easily learned. If you are familiar with the Pimsleur CD teaching methods, this course, Welsh Conversation, more like that. Frankly the regular Teach Yourself Welsh course is not that easy to follow during the CD conversations, and to this reviewer has been a bit of a disappointment.

Celtic Stencil Designs (Pictorial Archive)

I purchased this book because I needed some celtic designs for a Hexagon Quilt Class. All of the designs I've used in the past have been the usual: square, flower, etc. Since there are some Irish ancestors in the family tree, I thought this book would be helpful. The stencil patterns are really unique.

Patchwork updates of this book over the years really shows

This book contains a lot of good information on oscilloscopes that you really can't get in any other stand alone book. The problem is that the first edition of this book was in the early 1980's, and now the fifth edition was released in 2001. Oscilloscopes have changed a lot in those 20 years, this book has tried to keep pace, but the patchwork of add-ons and other enhancements really shows.

What's really needed is a complete re-write or at least a complete re-organization of this book. Many the key topics of oscilloscopes are covered by referencing old obsolete oscilloscopes. This of course is foolish and is the result of quickly patching the book over years by adding new chapters for new technology, but not fixing the existing chapters to reference current technology.

Anyways, there is still a lot of great information here. It's just not presented in the ideal way.

High Brow book

I'm a first time user of oscilloscopes, and this book starts in well in advance of my beginners ability. I'm sure it's great for folks who have a fairly good background with oscilloscopes already, but I need to back up a ways for my learning skills. I think it'll help me out more in the future after I get some good hands on experience. An oscilloscope isn't something you just plug in and start poking around on electrical circuits with. You need patience and previous knowledge of the workings of components and circuitry to make it useful.

How your Car Works

This book was well written with a balance of technical information presented in an understandable style. The fact that it was written and published in the UK made the metric references a little difficult to follow. The new decriptions of hybrid and electric vehicles was extremely useful as more and more of them are introduced to the American buying public. As a trainer for an automotive group, it will be useful as a refernce book.

chapters are hit or miss

This book is meant to give an overview of how an automobile functions. After reading this book, you will have a somewhat better understanding of the jargon used by a professional auto technician. Most chapters are fairly clear and concise. The weakest chapter is, by far, Chapter 3: Drivetrain. It is as if though another author wrote it - very hastily. Many terms are undefined. Despite having a technical background, this chapter was incomprehensible to me. The book overall, however, is a solid attempt at giving you a crash course in auto basics. There are plenty of useful illustrations, and lots of tidbits information regarding auto design. I'd recommend this book for anyone over the age of 13 or so.

Silverstein's poetry is good for the soul both young and old

My kids immediately fell in love with Shel Silverstein's when I introduced them to his work about 7 years ago... They were 1 and 4 at the time. (The older one got his younger brother interested as the younger one got older.) They are now 8 and 11 years old, and they still get a kick out of reading Silverstein's poems: They laugh out loud when they read his poems, and I get great joy from that. So this is our 10th or so of his books, and the boys love it. Can't go wrong with silly, clean poems that bring laughter to little children. Good for adult hearts, too!

My sons love Silverstein. His books are pretty much what they want to hear at bedtime. I think Shel Silverstein (from an adult's perspective) was a very multi-dimensional, interesting, intellectual, creative and talented man. He's a bit edgier than "Dr Suess" in the sense that some of his poems don't have very happy endings - but in our case, his books have stimulated our son's minds to think outside of the box.

I grew up reading Shel Silverstein books all throughout elementary school. I was so glad I was able to find them on Amazon for such a low price. I am excited to read these and reminisce on memories from my childhood. Falling Up was one of my favorite books of poems by Shel Silverstein. I am even more happy that these books are in great condition. I also love that they are hardback and come with a protective sleeve.

A very good book with alot of detail on how to build-up attacks from various formations. In my opinion most useful for U12 or older players (11 a side). Good tactical descriptions, explaining why and under what conditions a certain attack makes sense.

Being new to soccer, I wanted to learn more about the tactics of the game. Although the translation from Italian to English is a little rough in spots, I still got the gist and understood what the author was saying. An excellent book for those who enjoy the tactical side of the game.

This map provides a good over view and supplement to GPS or another map

This map provides a good over view and supplement to GPS or another map. I'd bought other National Geographic maps with the same "complaint", not enough detail. I knew I'd have the same problem with this one but bought it anyway because there are not many alternatives available. It met my needs OK and the map is of high quality paper so it stands up well to travel, bad folding and being stuffed in the bottom of a bag for days on end.

A lot of detail but little of it is useful.

The map has too large a scale to be useful. There are no useful city maps. So you can see how to get from city-to-city (there are virtually no route options anyway) but little information for when you arrive at your destination.
